A U.K. Government paper on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) advised doctors to recognise the condition as a serious illness. That a paper would be needed to determine this obvious fact goes to show the amount of confusion and misinformation that still exists today about CFS as a very real Physical Illness.
The number of phone calls I receive from people with CFS, who tell me that their doctor has carried out tests and can find nothing wrong with them, also doesn’t surprise me anymore.
Whilst Immunoglobulin Antibody (IgA, IgM, IgE etc) immune tests and liver and kidney functioning tests are important to rule out obvious health issues, the thing to understand here is that:
1) Medical tests aren’t always accurate and,
2) It is really a case of what exactly are you testing for and hoping to find?
There are over 10,000 liver functions, typical test will just give a broad indication of functioning. Specific viral infection tests have come a long way since the 1980′s. However the thing that has to be stressed is this:
Increased viral load, parasitic activity, bad bacteria build up, yeast infection over growths are all types of pathogen activity (symptoms) that can result from the presence of heavy metals and chemical toxicity overload (root cause). The bodies immune system becomes overwhelmed and typically tests will fail to identify this…
Just as my liver functioning tests failed to identify that I couldn’t digest certain types of fats. (Confirmed over a decade later by an Essential Fatty Acids test/profile).
Is CFS a Physical or Mental Issue?
Having had CFS in the late 1980′s for 15 years, the shocking thing is that even now there is still a belief that somehow the patient, in the absence of any positive basic test results, must be depressed and that it is the depression that is the cause of their CFS.
In the majority of cases nothing could be further from the truth.
Note, I am not denying that a depressive illness can cause extreme physical symptoms, I am suggesting that the brains chemistry may be being disrupted due to toxins crossing the blood/brain barrier.
They next logical step in that process of thinking is to prescribe anti-depressants. The result: “Happy” physically sick people masking their CFS symptoms in the hope that this will resolve physical toxicity issues. It will not.
I find it encouraging that mainstream media are starting to pick up on such issues like for example, pesticides or plasticisers (chemicals) and other types of hormone disruptors in our environment. Of course the alternative medical community have been commenting on these issues for decades! I somehow don’t think your local doctor is going to be testing for this or a particular heavy metal such as the common offenders: Lead, Mercury, Cadmium and Arsenic.
Readers of my eBook that follow my suggestions about heavy metals testing always express surprise that their test results have come back showing, for example, high levels of the heavy metal, lead. They can never quite understand how they got toxic.
My first response is to ask them have they been involved in the following types of activity: Printing, Electronics, Manufacturing, Chemicals, Paints, Automotive, Building Industry etc.
The answer in most cases is yes, like the person with CFS that phoned yesterday and said he’d been ill for 5 years. He’d had all the doctors tests done and found nothing, yet he felt drained all the time and often for no obvious apparent reason. He would also suddenly feel very fearful. Please see the page Adrenal Exhaustion.
It turns out this person had spent years working as a silk screen printer using dyes which can have heavy metals like lead in them.
Or the day before that when another person with CFS, who had been involved in the manufacture of tin popcorn containers, had years later discovered that the manufacturing process created fine minute layers of dust. This dust would then be pumped around the building from the production floor to the office (where he worked) due to the air conditioning system. This is also typical in car body shop garages where they use paints.
Be aware of the environment you are working in. Regulations on toxin exposure are now heavily monitored and can be a prosecutable offense. At least the European Union and it’s army of technocrats/regulators has give us some positive benefits if not the woes of the Euro.
